Part Time Braille Process Engraver for Sign Company
Signs West, Inc. is looking for a part time braille engraver to work in their family owned sign shop in South Austin between 20 and 30 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
The ideal candidate will be creative, have a positive attitude, and will roll up his or sleeves and jump right into production. Must be committed to quality, always paying attention to detail, and be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ability to proofread braille is a plus. On the job training available.
Job Purpose: Assists in the manufacturing of ADA signage, specifically engraving, and applying braille to signs.
Job Duties:
- Engraves and assembles ADA signage using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Reads and interprets work orders and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations and finish specifications.
- Assist with acrylic & plastic materials, such as sheet stock and following template pattern, blueprints, sketches, or sample parts, using measuring and marking instruments.
- Fabricate and assemble signs from a variety of materials, such as metal, stone, acrylic, vinyl, and designated bonding agents.
- Will press, smooth, trim, measure, and adjust substrates during the finishing process.
Desired Skills: Â Proficiency in braille, sign manufacturing, engraving, hand tools, painting and finishing skills. Experience with Roland EGX-600 Professional Engraving Machines, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, CNC software, Matthews Paint System is a plus. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
